This photo is (still) being shared with a caption “Alfred Hitchcock directing MGM lion”

This photograph of Hitchcock and Leo, one of the MGM lions, was taken by Clarence Sinclair Bull in 1958. This was a promotional photo for the movie North by Northwest.

Metro-Goldwin-Meyer’s production logo was created by Lionel S. Reiss, an art director for Paramount Studios. There are no mentions of Alfred Hitchcock being a “director” or  “supervisor” for the MGM logo.
