This has been debunked many times, but it just keeps coming back so I decided to post it as well.

Claim: in this photo, George Orwell holds a puppy during the Spanish Civil War in 1937. Ernest Hemingway can be seen in the background.

The soldier holding the puppy is not George Orwell. In fact, Orwell is not present in this 1937 photograph. Many people have noticed the obvious: he doesn’t even look like him.

Ernest Hemingway can be seen in this picture: he is the tall man behind with glasses.
