The design of Doctor Who’s Daleks

Some picture accounts keep claiming that the design of Doctor Who’s Daleks was based on America’s first policewoman Sgt Alice Wells, appointed in 1910. Usually the claim contains this picture:

This is totally wrong:

  1.  Original Dalek design was not based on any police outfit. Read How it all began. Or watch a video: Doctor Who – Raymond Cusick Visits the BBC Props Department and Studios. (YouTube).
  2. That is not a photo of Sgt. Alice Wells, but a Suffragette posed to illustrate the woman police concept. (Mashable article).
