This is an old one, but it keeps coming back so I decided to post it here. This picture is often shared with a title: Earth, Venus and Jupiter as seen from Mars.

Phil Plait (BadAstronomer on Twitter) debunked this back in 2012 in Discover Magazine’s article An Unreal Mars Skyline. They discovered the base image was rendered with some planetarium software. Also, the image itself isn’t a hoax: it’s just computer generated. But when it is being shared without correct information and false caption, it becomes a hoax.
