Melted road in Australia


There’s a heatwave in Australia. One article about the situation: Roads melt and animals drop dead as Australia suffers through its ‘most significant’ heatwave for 80 YEARS and temperatures top 120F (Mail Online, 18 January 2019). The following picture has been shared in many articles. It looks like melting asphalt was sticking to vehicle’s tires.

This photo is not from Australia. It dates back to 2017. Asphalt from a construction zone was sticking to vehicles’ tires in Lufkin, Texas, USA. Further reading and other photographs: East side of Lufkin loop shut down due to melting tar (KTRE 9).
